AFIA talks Hay and Silage at Eugowra
The Australian Fodder Industry Association (AFIA) is heading to Eugowra, NSW for a fodder workshop and farm tour, exploring the theme of what your fodder customer wants, on Tuesday 26 August. Anyone involved in making hay or silage is encouraged to come along to this event.
“With the 2014 fodder season fast approaching, now is a good time to think about what your customer wants from hay and silage” said AFIA Industry Development Manager, Caitlin Scholfield. “For anyone looking at producing, selling or buying fodder in 2014/15 this workshop is a must attend event.”
“The workshop will include a bus tour of two large farming operations, where delegates can hear from experienced, local operators on what they look for in hay and silage” Ms Scholfield said.
The workshop will visit Moxey Farms at Goologong to see how silage fits into this large scale Dairy operation.
“At Moxey Farms we will hear from Peter Philipzen who is an experienced Animal Nutritionist. Peter will discuss the key factors for making quality silage” Ms Scholfield said.
Looking at the role of fodder in the feedlot will also be explored with a visit to Gundamain Feedlot at Eugowra.
“As large users of hay and silage hearing from the team at Gundamain on how they use fodder will be valuable for both experienced and inexperienced fodder producers” said Ms Scholfield.
Following the bus tour of Moxey Farms and Gundamain Feedlot the workshop will conclude with a networking lunch at Eat Your Greens, Eugowra.
“Like all AFIA events creating opportunities for people in the fodder industry to network is a key part of this day” concluded Ms Scholfield.
The AFIA Fodder Workshop at Eugowra will commence with morning tea at 8.45am, Eat Your Greens, Eugowra (7723 The Escort Way, Eugowra NSW). A coach will be taking all workshop delegates on the farm tour before returning to Eugowra for lunch. All vehicles must be left at Eat Your Greens during the farm tours.
This workshop is supported by Lallemand Animal Nutrition and Austwest Seeds. AFIA members and non-members who are interested in the fodder industry are invited to attend.
