#haysafeday Captures Safety
In the lead up to National Hay Safe Day on October 25 the Australian Fodder Industry Association (AFIA) is encouraging everyone to share their pictures of safety in practice through social media.
“One of AFIA’s key objectives is to ensure the fodder industry is a safe place to work” said AFIA Executive Officer Darren Keating “One of the easiest ways we can all contribute to this is ensuring our members and other industry participants talk about safety with their family and employees. This year’s National Hay Safe Day campaign is a great way of spreading that message”.
To help raise the profile of National Hay Safe Day and talking safety in the fodder industry AFIA is launching the 2014 #haysafeday photo competition at the Elmore Field Days.
“The aim of the photo competition is for people to get behind National Hay Safe Day and share photos of safety in action via social media using #haysafeday” said Mr Keating. “This campaign will be a light hearted way of encouraging people who aren’t already thinking and talking about safety in their work place to make a start”.
“Safety is no joke but if we can have a bit of fun while sharing a positive message that’s a great outcome for the fodder industry” Mr Keating concluded.
For anyone wanting to get involved there will be an opportunity to take some photos at AFIA’s #haysafeday photo stand at the Elmore Field Days.
AFIA will be at site 397 at this year’s Elmore Field Days. Anyone interested in learning more about National Hay Safe Day or getting involved in the #haysafeday photo competition is encouraged to speak to Caitlin Scholfield at the site.
Hay Safe Day is the initiative Suzanne Woods an AFIA member, fodder grower and hay exporter from Calingiri in Western Australia. Tragically on October 25, 2009, Suzanne lost her father in an accident on their farm.
As part of National Hay Safe Day AFIA is encouraging people to share their safety initiatives through photos to #haysafeday on social media (twitter – @ausfodder and facebook Ausfodder). Some great prizes will be on offer for the best photos.
