- Pasture hay prices have risen across the country this week, except in Queensland where there is enough rain to produce pasture hay on-farm. With weaning due to commence soon, farmers are buying in pasture hay now to support the winter period. It is still unknown whether there will be enough rain in April to support seeding and pastures growth in drought-affected areas.
- Good quality lucerne hay is hard to get on the north coast of NSW due to flooding rains. This has seen prices jump up for top grade lucerne.
- Long-overdue rainfall has been eagerly welcomed in parts of Victoria and southern NSW ahead of the Anzac Day sowing deadline, but some areas missed out.
